Harry Gregg was a Northern Irish professional footballer and goalkeeper, best known for his time at Manchester United from 1957 to 1967. Born on October 27, 1932, in Magherafelt, Northern Ireland, Gregg began his career with Doncaster Rovers before moving to Manchester United.

At United, Gregg quickly established himself as one of the top goalkeepers in England, renowned for his exceptional shot-stopping ability, commanding presence, and bravery. He became the club's first-choice goalkeeper and played a crucial role in the team that reached but lost the 1958 FA Cup Final.

Tragically, Gregg was one of the survivors of the Munich Air Disaster in 1958, which claimed the lives of eight of his teammates. He displayed remarkable courage during the aftermath of the crash, helping to rescue fellow survivors, including manager Matt Busby. His heroism during this traumatic event solidified his status as a club legend.

Following the disaster, Gregg continued to play for United, helping the club rebuild in the years that followed. He was a key player during the 1960s, making over 240 appearances for the club. Although he faced competition from other goalkeepers, Gregg's consistency and leadership made him a vital figure in the team.

In 1966, he left Manchester United and moved to other clubs, including Stoke City and finally to the North American Soccer League (NASL). After retiring, Gregg remained involved in football as a coach and manager.

Harry Gregg is remembered not only for his outstanding goalkeeping skills but also for his bravery and resilience in the face of tragedy. He passed away on February 16, 2020, leaving behind a lasting legacy at Manchester United and in the football community.
