Originally a left-back, he adapted as a winger and defender, known for his work rate and defensive capabilities. Martin's defining moment came in the 1990 FA Cup final replay against Crystal Palace, where he scored the only goal to secure United’s first major trophy under Sir Alex Ferguson, cementing his place in United folklore.
