Early Life and Youth Career
Mark Robins was born in Ashton-under-Lyne and joined Manchester United’s youth system as a teenager. He progressed through the ranks and was considered a promising young striker during the late 1980s.

Club Career
Manchester United (1986–1992)
Robins made his first-team debut for Manchester United in 1988. Although not a regular starter, he played a crucial role during the 1989–90 FA Cup campaign, famously scoring in the third-round match against Nottingham Forest. Many believe this goal saved Sir Alex Ferguson from being sacked, as the FA Cup victory that season was Ferguson's first major trophy at the club.

During his time at United, Robins made 70 appearances and scored 17 goals.

Norwich City (1992–1994)
Seeking more regular playing time, Robins moved to Norwich City in 1992. He played a key role in Norwich’s memorable 1992–93 Premier League season, where the club finished third and competed in the UEFA Cup. Robins scored twice against Bayern Munich in one of Norwich’s most historic European victories.

Leicester City (1994–1995)
Robins joined Leicester City in 1994, helping the team gain promotion to the Premier League via the 1994 Championship Play-offs. However, he struggled to cement a place in the team.

Later Career
Robins played for several other clubs, including Copenhagen (Denmark), Reading, Manchester City, Walsall, Rotherham United, and Burton Albion, before retiring in 2005.

International Career
Though he never played for England’s senior team, Robins was part of the England U21 squad.

Managerial Career
After retiring, Robins transitioned into management, with stints at:

Rotherham United (2007–2009)
Barnsley (2009–2011)
Coventry City (2012–2013, 2017–present)
Huddersfield Town (2013–2014)
Scunthorpe United (2014–2016)
At Coventry City, he led the club to promotion from League Two (2017–18) and later to the Championship.

Legacy
Mark Robins is widely regarded for his FA Cup-winning contribution at Manchester United, with many considering his goal against Nottingham Forest as one that changed the club’s history. His coaching career has also been marked by success in lower-league English football.
