Early Life and Youth Career
Tom Cleverley was born in Basingstoke but grew up in Bradford, West Yorkshire. His footballing journey began in the youth setups of local clubs, showing promise as a technically gifted midfielder. At age 11, Cleverley joined the youth academy of Manchester United, where he developed his skills and was groomed for professional football under the guidance of some of the best coaches in England.

Manchester United Career
Cleverley signed his first professional contract with Manchester United in 2008. Though he faced stiff competition for a starting spot, his potential was evident. To gain experience, he was loaned out to several clubs:

Leicester City (2009): Cleverley impressed during his time in the Championship, contributing to Leicester's promotion push.
Watford (2009–2010): In his first full season in senior football, Cleverley shone at Watford, scoring 11 goals and earning the club's Player of the Season award.
Wigan Athletic (2010–2011): In the Premier League, Cleverley demonstrated his ability to perform at the top level, playing a key role in Wigan’s survival campaign.
Cleverley returned to Manchester United for the 2011–12 season and became a regular squad member under Sir Alex Ferguson. Known for his energy, passing ability, and versatility, Cleverley played an important role during the 2012–13 season, when United won the Premier League title—Sir Alex Ferguson's final season in charge.

International Career
Cleverley represented England at various youth levels before making his senior debut in 2012. Though he never became a mainstay in the national team, he earned 13 caps between 2012 and 2013. Cleverley was also part of the Great Britain squad at the 2012 London Olympics.

Career After Manchester United
In 2014, Cleverley joined Aston Villa on loan, before making a permanent move to Everton in 2015. After two years with the Merseyside club, he returned to Watford in 2017, where he became a key player and a leader on and off the pitch. Cleverley captained Watford during his time at the club and played a significant role in their promotion to the Premier League in 2021.

Retirement
Tom Cleverley announced his retirement from professional football in July 2023, citing injury struggles that hindered his ability to perform at the highest level. Following his retirement, Cleverley expressed interest in pursuing coaching and staying involved in football, with a focus on mentoring young players.
