Biography Benjamin Šeško was born in the small Slovenian town of Radeče, where his talent for football emerged early. Starting at local side Rudar Trbovlje, he quickly attracted attention for his height, coordination, and ability to dominate in youth matches. He soon moved to NK Krško and later joined NK Domžale’s youth academy, one of Slovenia’s most respected talent factories.
In 2019, at the age of just 16, Šeško made a major leap by signing with Red Bull Salzburg, the Austrian club renowned for developing future stars. His development continued on loan at Salzburg’s feeder team FC Liefering in Austria’s second division, where his return of 22 goals in 44 matches demonstrated his instinctive finishing ability and promise as a future elite striker.
Breakthrough with Red Bull Salzburg
Returning to Salzburg for the 2021–22 season, Šeško broke into the first team at just 18 years old. He helped the club continue their domestic dominance, winning the Austrian Bundesliga and Austrian Cup. His pace, power, and technical ability made him one of Europe’s most scouted young forwards. Over two seasons with Salzburg’s first team, he registered 29 goals in 79 matches in all competitions.
Move to RB Leipzig
In 2023, Šeško took the next step by moving to RB Leipzig in the German Bundesliga on a long-term deal running until 2029. His debut season showed glimpses of brilliance, and by mid-2025 he had scored 27 goals in 64 appearances. He quickly adapted to the more physical and tactical demands of the Bundesliga, becoming known for Intelligent off-the-ball movement, Sharp finishing from both feet, Aerial prowess in set-piece situations, Counter-attacking pace despite his height.
Leipzig’s fast, pressing system suited his style, and his performances at both domestic and European level further increased his reputation.
International Career with Slovenia
Šeško made his senior debut for the Slovenia national team in June 2021, becoming the youngest player in history to represent his country. Just months later, he also became their youngest-ever goalscorer. By August 2025, he had won 41 caps and scored 16 international goals. Highlights include crucial strikes in UEFA Nations League matches and standout performances during Euro qualification campaigns.
Transfer to Manchester United
In August 2025, Manchester United confirmed the signing of Benjamin Šeško from RB Leipzig for a reported £73.3 million, plus add-ons. The transfer was part of new manager Rúben Amorim’s rebuild, aimed at adding physical presence, pace, and a clinical edge to the attack.
