Biography

Ben Amos grew up in Macclesfield, England, and began his football journey at Crewe Alexandra's youth academy, initially playing as a midfielder. After being released at the age of 10, he transitioned to goalkeeping and joined Manchester United's academy in 2001. Amos progressed through United's ranks, showcasing exceptional reflexes and composure, ultimately earning a professional contract in 2008.

Manchester United Career
Amos spent seven seasons at Manchester United (2008-2015), making a total of seven first-team appearances. His debut came in September 2008 in a Football League Cup tie against Middlesbrough. Although opportunities were limited due to strong competition from goalkeepers like Edwin van der Sar and David de Gea, Amos gained invaluable experience training at one of the world's top clubs.

To further develop his skills, Amos was loaned out to several clubs:

Peterborough United (2009)
Molde FK in Norway (2010)
Oldham Athletic (2011)
Hull City (2012–2013)
Carlisle United (2013–2014)
Bolton Wanderers (2015)
These stints provided Amos with regular playing time, allowing him to grow as a goalkeeper.

Post-United Career
After leaving Manchester United in 2015, Amos signed with Bolton Wanderers, making over 40 appearances. However, his time at Bolton also included loans to Cardiff City, Charlton Athletic, and Millwall, as the club faced financial struggles and fluctuating fortunes.

In 2019, Amos joined Charlton Athletic, where he became a key player over two seasons, earning praise for his consistency. In June 2021, he signed with Wigan Athletic, where he enjoyed a standout season, playing every league game in 2021–22 and helping the team secure the EFL League One title.

Following Wigan's relegation from the Championship in 2024, Amos was released and later signed with Port Vale FC in July 2024, bringing his wealth of experience to the League Two side.

International Career
Ben Amos represented England at multiple youth levels, from Under-16 to Under-21, earning several caps. While he did not feature for the senior team, his performances in youth competitions demonstrated his potential and reliability as a goalkeeper.

Style of Play
Amos is known for his exceptional shot-stopping ability, sharp reflexes, and bravery in aerial challenges. His calmness under pressure and ability to command his area have been defining traits throughout his career.
