Biography
Harry Baird (August 17, 1913 - May 22, 1973) was a Northern Irish footballer renowned for his versatility as a centre-forward and midfielder. Born in Belfast, he began his football journey with Dunmurry before advancing to Bangor in 1932. His impressive performances led to a move to Linfield in 1933, where he contributed to the team's Irish League title in the 1934–35 season and an Irish Cup victory in 1936.

In January 1937, Baird joined Manchester United for a fee of £3,500. Despite the team's relegation in the 1936–37 season, he played a pivotal role in their immediate promotion back to the First Division, finishing as the joint top scorer with 15 goals in the 1937–38 season.

Baird transferred to Huddersfield Town in September 1938, helping the team reach the FA Cup semi-final in 1939. During World War II, he served in the RAF and guested for several clubs, including Linfield and Ipswich Town. Post-war, he signed with Ipswich Town in 1946, making 216 league appearances and scoring six goals until his retirement in the 1951–52 season.

Internationally, Baird represented the Irish League XI in 1936 and earned a cap for the Ireland national team (IFA XI) in 1938. He was also called up by the FAI XI but did not play due to eligibility disputes.

Baird's career is remembered for his contributions to multiple clubs and his involvement in the complex international football landscape of his time.
