Biography
James "Jimmy" Bain was a Scottish professional footballer and manager, best known for his long-standing association with Brentford Football Club. His career spanned various roles, including player, manager, and assistant manager, contributing significantly to the club's history.

Early Life and Career: Born in Rutherglen, Scotland, Bain began his football journey with local junior club Rutherglen Glencairn. His performances caught the attention of Manchester United, leading to his transfer in May 1922. However, during his time at United, Bain made only four first-team appearances between 1922 and 1928.

Brentford Tenure: In November 1928, Bain joined Brentford, a club competing in the Third Division South. He quickly became a key player, assuming the role of captain and leading the team to the Third Division South title in the 1932-33 season. Bain made 201 appearances and scored two goals for Brentford before retiring from playing in 1934.

Coaching and Management: After retiring as a player, Bain transitioned into coaching, serving as assistant manager under Harry Curtis. This period marked the most successful era in Brentford's history, including a fifth-place finish in the First Division in the 1935–36 season and winning the 1942 London War Cup. Bain briefly managed Brentford from 1952 to 1953 and continued as assistant manager until 1956.

Legacy: In recognition of his contributions, Bain was inducted into Brentford's Hall of Fame in May 2015. He is remembered as one of the club's best-ever captains, placing fifth in a Football League 125th Anniversary poll.

Jimmy Bain's dedication and leadership left an indelible mark on Brentford Football Club, cementing his legacy in English football history. James Bain is one of the few sets of brothers to ever play for Heath or United, Jimmy's brother was David Bain
