Lincoln City's manager is future Man Utd manager James West. Match referee Mr Fox of Sheffield awarded Newton Heath two penalty kicks in quick succession during the match, the crowd so agitated by this decision he was forced to take shelter in the Lincoln secretary's office, when he did eventually leave his sanctuary he was "badly assaulted by several roughs" & the windows of his cab on his journey to his hotel were completely smashed.
