On 22 December 1964, Denis Law, the King of the Stretford End, became the first Scotsman to win the Ballon d'Or. He collected 61 points to finish ahead of Inter Milan's Spanish midfielder Luis Suárez, who received 43 points, while Real Madrid's Amancio placed third on 38 points. |

On 27 December 1966, Sir Bobby Charlton won the Ballon d'Or with 81 points. He edged out the great Eusebio of Benfica, who finished just one point behind on 80, while Bayern Munich's Franz Beckenbauer took third place with 59 points. |
