 Match Review

The Editor of MUFCINFO.COM Article by Mark Graham, Editor, Record Keeper & Official Reporter @ MUFCINFO.COM

Manchester United stomped a mudhole in the ass of Chelsea on Sunday afternoon crushing the small team near Fulham 3-0 at Old Trafford, goals from Nemanja Vidic, Wayne Rooney & Dimitar Berbatov all helped as United ran riot.  In a fiercely competitive match United lost Rio Ferdinand at the start the England defender who was reported as fit to return to the side was apparently the victim of more back spasms and will under go scans in the coming week.

Both manager sprang surprises in their line ups as SAF opted to play Ryan Giggs in a central role preferring him to Michael Carrick & Luiz Felipe Scolari benched the Premierships leading scorer Nicholas Anelka in favor of the Roller-skate wearing Didier Drogba.

The 1st half was a chess game with each side feeling each other out and after booking Frank Lampard after 3 minutes referee Howard Webb stamped his authority early potentially giving himself a problem as the game wore on.

United were awarded a free kick after Ashley Cole had adjudged to have handballed a Ronaldo cross & as with the Reds beginning to control possession had their 1st shot on target as a curling Ryan Giggs free-kick saw Cech forced deflect the ball to safety in a congested penalty area, from the same spell of pressure Joe Cole the fouled Rooney outside the box & from the resulting free kick Ronaldo stepped up & saw his deflected effort go wide for a United corner.

Chelsea then enjoyed a small patch of possession culminating in a blocked Lampard in swinging free kick & half shots from outside the box.

A flurry of yellow cards were introduced by Referee Howard Webb as Bosingwa received a yellow for a tackle on Rooney on the left & after Ryan Giggs curled a free kick into the penalty area BOTH Ronaldo & Carvalho were booked after Ronaldo's Portuguese national  team mate tried in vain to remove our number 7's shirt.

An angry reaction & raised hands from Carvalho toward Ronaldo ensued & as Ronaldo protested to his "mate"  the yellow flash occurred twice.

The best chance of the half then came United's way when EVDS's long ball to the left of the half way line found the impressive Patrice Evra, controlling the ball with his chest, the French full back utilizing as he did the whole match the space left by Chelsea's painfully clear lack of width galloped centrally before passing the Wayne Rooney who in turn dinked  a delightful ball into the path of Dimitar Berbatov.  Still with much to do the Bulgarian who was almost silent in the 1st half gathered Rooney's brilliant pass before dummying Carvalho at the same time creating space in the box only to scuff his shot poorly giving Cech an easy save.

A bout of cheating from the mighty Chelsea came next as Roller skate boy Didier Drogba looked as if he had been shot after a Gary Neville tackle & a short spell of possession later saw shameful diving antics from Chelsea's overpaid Michael Ballack after everyone's favorite Ashley Cole crossed into the box from the left.

Ballack's pathetic behavior seemed the only way the visitors would threaten a rather underworked EVDS.

United pressured Chelsea some more when John "Its slippy out there" Terry made a magnificent block from a JSP left footed shot & again shortly after when Obi Jon lost possession in his own penalty area, Ronaldo's miscue hit Rooney & Darren Fletcher had a penalty appeal turned down after John Terry's arm appeared to hit the ball.

Then came the talking point of the match when Wayne Rooney took a very quick corner that took the whole Chelsea team by surprise, not aware that Rooney had indeed taken the ball into play by moving the ball into & out of the quadrant, Giggs calm as you like gathered the ball as Chelsea set up their set piece markers & quickly dashed toward goal crossing for Ronaldo to rise above the static Chelsea defenders to beat Cech.

The goal was disallowed and United reacted angrily letting Chelsea off the hook, for about 10 seconds.

Giggs then retook the corner & a flick on later from Berbatov to the far post found Vidic who nodded past Cech for a deserved opening goal. (Editor: its worth noting a big thanks once again to Old J.T. (John Terry) for losing his marker for the goal.)

Luiz Felipe Scolari was forced to change his hapless plan as Deco was replaced in the second half by Anelka, a move which seemed to open the game more in United's favor reducing the number of bodies in midfield.

Controlling midfield with relative ease United for the early portion of the 2nd half were very comfortable even though with two strikers Chelsea enjoyed a tad more possession than in the 1st half, but sterling hard graft from Giggs, Fletcher, Evra & especially JSP who nullified the threat of Cole on the left at the same time getting forward as much as possible had Chelsea for the taking as UNited turned the screw.

With Evra doing similar on the other side & stopping Bosingwa the diminutive & quite brilliant attacking fullback was on full show on almost the half hour mark as United doubled their advantage.

Ji-Sung Park broke on the counter from the right & a exchange of passes between himself, Rooney & Giggs gave Evra the opportunity to probe deep into Chelsea territory, a sublime back heel & chance of direction from Ronaldo then gave Evra the chance to cross a dangerous high cross into the penalty area.

Sensing his opportunity Rooney then closed in on the Evra cross and went in between Ashley Coles legs, a place where even Ashley's wife hasn't been if you believe rumors and side footed home, putting the tie in no doubt.
(Editor: its worth noting a big thanks once again to Old J.T. (John Terry) for ducking and letting the ball land for Rooney.)

Rooney was the next player to receive a yellow & his left wing cross was to be the last piece of action for Evra as he was replaced due to injury shortly after by JOS.

Chelsea replied with another spell of non damaging possession with the crowning moment being a Drogba shot which dribbled out for goal kick.

Ronaldo then had a marginal offside decision go against the Official "World Player of the Year" after the genius of Berbatov threaded a ball through the centre of two Chelsea defenders ,  racing onward Ronaldo beat Cech but the goal was disallowed.

Ronaldo was given another stab at a goal when a poor Ashley Cole pass across his goal had deceived Carvalho, Ronaldo sensing to capitalize on an opportunity, lashed a shot inches wide of Petr Cech goal, sparing Cole's blushes.

The Cherry on the icing on the cake came next as United crowed a fantastic day at the office with another goal as Nemanja Vidic approached Berbatov before the kick off to as we are aware now, explain that he would block his marker & Berbatov's to enable free passage to convert Ronaldo's free kick.

Working to perfection Vidic indeed blocked two men & United scored their third of a demoralizing defeat for Chelski.

So a fine performance combining a Liverpool slip up totally capitalized on, a Spanish waiter doing a Kevin Keegan & a battering for them smug bast*rds from West London.

(Editor: its worth noting a big thanks once again to Old J.T. (John Terry) for slipping in the Champions League Final in Moscow.)

Congratulations goes to Diego Maradona & the Entire Chelsea squad for meeting Tanner & Sandra from West Cumbria in the Radisson Hotel Car Park in Manchester at 7am.

Gaining the information for the scoop before major tabloids, Sky Sports & BBC News, a close source to MUFCINFO.COM had reported that he (Maradona) had apparently almost set his room on fire after smoking cigars.

Oh and yes Frank Lampard was trying to hide his his face in the car park.

(Editor: its worth noting that John Terry slipped in the Car Park).
