With the bin
dippers winning a toughie against Bolton at the Reebok,
Manchester United needed nothing more than to take maximum
points against the Potters at Old Trafford & take they did,
a brace of free kicks from Ronaldo, a left footed shot from
Michael Carrick & goals from Berbatov & a beauty for
debutant Danny Welbeck gave the home side a emphatic 5-0
victory.
With youth bulging in all areas of the team SAF gave League
debuts to Welbeck, Manucho & Darron Gibson, also into the
starting 11 was JOS, Carlos Tevez, Jonny Evans & Ji Sung
Park with a place of the bench for Rafael & regulars
Anderson & Nani.
Wayne Rooney, Ryan Giggs & Rio Ferdinand were all left out
due to injury & illness.
SAF's plan to
give his young ones a run out was made that much easier when
Amdy Faye chopped down Carlos Tevez well outside the box &
into the radar of Ronaldo' scorching free kicks. The
much debated Ronaldo now 99% fit & fully recovered from his
summer injury has up until this point required his said
"radar" retuned after a clatter of recent free kick have
ended up in relevant car parks around Europe, but on this
occasion for his 100th goal the Old Trafford crowd only
three minutes in were singing his name after his spectacular
vicious drive beat Sorenson.
Amdy Faye who was under torture all day by United's talented
attack, redeemed himself if for only a short while when
Ronaldo shot & Faye blocked.
Like death & taxes Stoke's wheeled out their not so secret
weapon which has brought them so much success this season
(12 assists) as Rory Delap from the left had his header meet
by JOS & headed across the goal, EVDS produced a clawing
save to direct the ball out of danger, whilst giving all an
indication of just how dangerous the throw ins are.
Ex Villa keeper Sorensen then saved well from Ji-Sung Park
after the Korean was sent through when Berbatov controlled a
long headed clearance by Jonny Evans, Berbatov spied Parks
clever run off the shoulder of a stoke defender & as Park
tried a dink over Sorenson the keeper pulled off an
impressive save.
Sorenson again saw more action when Ronaldo tried his luck.
United then doubled their advantage just before half time,
Ronaldo teasing the Stoke defence on the left & before
feeding Carrick just at the right time & the former Walls
End Boys Club player smashed an unstoppable effort with his
weaker foot beyond the Stoke keepers reach for 2-0.
In the second half Stoke left themselves with a titanic task
when with only four minutes after great build up work
involving O'Shea & Fletcher, Dimitar Berbatov with a slice
of fortune controlled a cross in the penalty area from
Carlos Tevez then turned & beat Sorenson with a low
shot at the near post increasing the Reds lead to 3-0.
With Darren Fletcher fouled 30+ yards out, the resulting
free kick saw the familiar "Gunslinger" stance from Ronaldo
& his ensuing free kick was rammed into the face of Sorenson
who could only parry the ball back into traffic, with
Carrick looming Andy Griffin cleared over the bar.
Ronaldo & excellent Carlos Tevez both had close shot from
distance before United fans & naturals alike would be
treated to a special goal from a league debutant.
The Reds almost scored again after league debutant Darron
Gibson driving into Stoke's defence on a counter attack,
passed to Ronaldo who dashed toward goal before unselfishly
feeding Manucho in the box, the Angolan claiming he was
pushed as his headed effort went sailing over the top of the
bar.
Ex Red Danny
Higginbotham then cleared a Berbatov shot off the line
before the goal of the match.
Berbatov fed Welbeck in the centre circle & after quick one
two with Manucho, Welbeck blasted a 25 yard bullet into the
top corner sending the Stretford End & Old Trafford into a
frenzy, a top quality strike from a extremely talented
young forward with bag of potential.
The impressive Michael Carrick won a free kick for United as
Ryan Showcross chopped him down in full flight only for
Ronaldo to bend his low free kick around the wall for
United's 5th, capping off a brilliant day at the office.
After the hysteria of beating Manchester United last week,
Arsenal have proved exactly what we said last week that the
critics are only off your back because you beat United &
gained three points, three points you lost this week making
it 4 games lost already out of only 13 games.
