The White Pele & his glittering form
continued as West Bromwich Albion were buried at Old
Trafford on Saturday, goals from Rooney, Ronaldo, Berbatov &
a late goal from Substitute Nani destroyed the Baggies
giving the Reds three points and at the same time moving
into 4th place in the Premiership League table..
SAF opted to rest both Anderson & Tevez completely as both
South Americans were not even on the bench, another South
American who did get a start was Rafael who was given a
start at right back and the full back looked as comfortable
as ever.
West Brom defended well, passing the ball crisply at times
even playing themselves out of trouble on a number of
occasion with good movement, as expected though United had
the upper hand for the match and Darren Fletcher & Ryan
Giggs played well to run things in the midfield areas.
IN the early going West Brom kept a wall of players behind
the ball with their plan working returnee to the team Chris
Brunt tried from distance with success, one of the rare
occasions EVDS was called into action.
The home side
took a temporary lead on the twenty minute mark after
Ronaldo provided Rooney with a first-rate ball in the West
Brom box, Rooney using his strength at what seemed a fair
showing bundled over the
Zuiverloon before beating Carson in the West Brom goal,
referee Mark
Halsey disallowed the effort deciding that Rooney had fouled
the Baggies defender.
Rooney again showing confidence in abundance lost his marker
and had Carson working when he met a Giggs cross which was
saved.
With EVDS almost
bored the visiting side kept at arms length by Rio & Vidic
were restricted to long shots as Koren almost took out a
member of the Stretford end Singing section with a pathetic
shot.
SAF was then
forced to make a personnel change after 36 minutes as
Patrice Evra was taken off for JOS seemingly collecting an
injury.
With possession &
the Reds comfortable, Vidic had a header toward goal but no
breakthrough was found as the half time whistle was blown.
After the break United especially Berbatov & Ronaldo sparked
with the Bulgarian almost supplying Rooney with an assist,
but unable to strike with any accuracy failed to trouble
Carson.
As dangerous as ever on the counter United burst toward the
Stretford End and Rooney collected Dimitar Berbatov's clever
as ever pass, from the left he moved to the right beating
Donk and fired low to the left hand post beating Carson for
the deserved breakthrough.
Over the last few
games Ryan Giggs has demonstrated a defence splitting pass
which he and Rooney have timed to perfection, one resulting
in a goal in Europe against Aalborg, the Welshman almost
gave himself another assist with the same pass as Rooney had
Carson save around his post.
Building momentum & involving himself with every United
attack, Rooney shot a thunderous strike at Carson before
Berbatov got in on the act & but showing decent form himself
the England keeper saved again, (Editor: the Baggies
keeper who was born in the same town as your reporter.)
United introduced Neville for Rafael and soon doubled their
advantage as that man Rooney once again showed the form he
is in, slipping a ball into the path of Ronaldo who expertly
swept the ball under the on rushing Carson's legs for 2-0.
With a two goal
advantage, SAF gave Nani a run out for Ji Sung Park & the
Portuguese wingers twenty minutes were not in vain.
Nani on a raid into the Stretford End crossed into the West
Brom penalty box and Jonas Olsson guilty of missing his
attempted clearance saw his mistake punished to the max as
Berbatov stuck out a leg & directed the ball, which in truth
should never have reached him into the back of the net for
3-0.
EVDS who lets face it was so unemployed could have completed
crosswords due to inactivity, was suddenly tested with 2
minutes remaining as a rare stampede forward resulted in a
Miller shot going in the region of EVDS net.
United 3-0 up were still looking to increase their lead as
Giggs & Rooney looked to heap on more misery for West Brom &
to cap off a day with his name on the score sheet, 1
disallowed goal, Two assists & a monster of a display
overall, The White Pele from the right slipped a perfect
ball across the ground to the onrushing Nani who tapped in
from close range, that was shortly before celebrating with a
one legged somersault, that your Editor can also do, but
better.
TANNER & TODDY's TRIP TO CARRINGTON
A big up goes to Anthony "Les Kellet/Tanner" Penn & Graeme
"Toddy" Todhunter from the West Cumbria Reds who recently
visited Carrington owing to a competition Toddy had won,
taking part in a training session their were three
categories , the Normal, the Semi fit (which Toddy took part
in) & the Women's & Children, which Tanner took part
in.................only for ten minutes as he required an
ice pack on both knees.
