 Match Review

The Editor of MUFCINFO.COM Article by Mark Graham, Editor, Record Keeper & Official Reporter @ MUFCINFO.COM

A debatable penalty kick, dispatched by Ronaldo & a sublime Wayne Rooney curler were more than enough to claim all three points & United's first home league win of the season.
Jlloyd Samuel had tackled Ronaldo clumsily, but fairly and brought down the winger on the hour mark, resulting in referee Rob Styles pointing to the spot.

SAF warned his strikers he will rotate & Rooney was the 1st to be rested as Berbatov & Tevez were partnered together, Ronaldo & Park were the wingers with Darren Fletcher & Anderson the midfield legs.

As is always expected from Bolton a tough & rugged "come & break us down" policy was adopted by the Trotters.

United started as expected with plenty of possession & Bolton's resilient game plan kept United out as in the 1st half alone Jussi Jaaskelainen was required on several occasions most notable a Ronaldo free-kick which the Bolton keeper saved well.

Bolton still looked like they could muster up an attack though as Ricardo Gardner tried a shot & Kevin Nolan from long range.

Bolton suddenly created a chance from nothing which Fabrice Muamba will still at the time of press be wondering how he missed such an easy chance.

Former Arsenal player Muamba made a complete hash of the shot when Steinsson’s cross appeared invitingly in front of him skewing his shot wildly from only eight yards out.

Searching for a breakthrough Nemanja Vidic headed over a corner before Anderson saw a curling shot tipped over the bar after Fletcher's pass.

The game ended 0-0 at half time and with SAF now expecting and probably demanding United improve & start to pick up some points over a long purple patch the Reds needed a breakthrough.

Bolton still reminded United that the game was far from finished & that despite seeing much of the ball, possession counts for noting if you do not do anything with it & with that Gardener fired a shot which almost shaved the post.

United continued to boss the game and with only 30 minutes left, time running out and the scores still even, United finally took a fortunate but deserving lead.

Bolton's Jlloyd Samuel made a tackle on Ronaldo after the forward had skipped passed defenders into the danger area & as slow mo replay showed had connected with the ball arguably doing enough to justify a foul in the box, but the Referee perfectly placed pointed to the spot.

Up stepped Ronaldo sending Jaaskelainen the wrong way for his 94th goal in Manchester Red colors.

Probably sensing blood, SAF introduced Rooney and Scholes for Tevez & Anderson and soon enough the two were in the mix creating havoc & chances for the home side.

Ronaldo from the left then burst into the Bolton box and an astute back heel found & teed up Rooney who curled a splendid effort past the full stretch Jaaskelainen for the comfort of a 2-0 lead.

United looked a sure bet for a third as Paul Scholes probed but two goals up and minutes left, the Champions got what they wanted.

 MUFCINFO's MAN OF THE MATCH

Another class display up & down, back & forth all day long, with the added distraction of Kevin "Dirty" Davies which he handled perfect.
 MUFCINFO.COM's REACTION
I shall go on record to say that the press are about to slaughter Berbatov, gutter snipes that they are.

Anyway, Park & Evra were brilliant & Rooney & Ronaldo both looked the business, it wont take long before we hit full cylinders.

Bring on Blackburn next Saturday!!!
