 MUFC's MAN OF THE MATCH
Carrick reminded me so much of a certain Zidane in the 63 minutes he played, majestic & outstanding on the ball but at the same time making it look very very easy, however for his audacious goal, adept flick assist, and not forgetting a pinpoint cross for the Apaches headed goal & Rooney's last, oh and also nearly scoring but striking the bar, its Ronaldo.

 MUFCINFO.COM's REACTION

Chalk another one off, All of Arsenal's impressive work at the Reebok was for nothing as the table are still the same on Sunday morning.

Manchester United 4 v 0 Aston Villa,
Old Trafford, Manchester, 17.15pm, Saturday 29th March 2008.
Goals: Manchester United: Ronaldo (17), Tevez (33), Rooney (53), (70) - Aston Villa - n/a.
Attendance: 75,932

Manchester United destroyed Aston Villa with arguably their best performance so far this season taking a further step toward retaining the Premiership Title. Both Chelsea & more so Arsenal struggled to fend off efforts from Middlesbrough & Bolton respectively but did manage eventually making it as you were with all three of the title hopefuls obtaining victories.

Villa took first blood in the created chances stakes after Ashley Young struck a shot but United replied with a Rooney shot which Stiliyan Petrov cleared.

Giggs then sent Tevez through but Mellberg cleared the danger for Villa as the pressure was mounting for the visitors.

Carrick found Ronaldo who forced goalkeeper Scott Carson to save before Wes Brown headed over the bar.

United then took the lead with who else but Ronaldo as the phenom struck his 26th Premiership goal of the season.

With Ryan Giggs winning a corner for United, the Welshman whipped in a quite appetizing ball which Gareth Barry jumped to header & missed, an unexpecting Bouma saw the ball strike his arm and fall into the path of Ronaldo who flicked the ball nutmegging Martin Laursen leaving the United forward to slowly watch his effort beat Carson.

United's 2nd goal came from a sweeping move started & finished by Carlos Tevez as Ronaldo gifted the Argie a neat header at the far post from a first class cross which the Apache met with power.

Villa already 2-0 down then suffered a set back as John Carew was replaced by Maloney due to a groin injury

United were dominating on all fronts with Carrick & Scholes running the midfield areas with devastating ease, Tevez then supplied Rooney with a golden chance but the White Pele still unlucky in front of goal shot narrowly wide.

John Carew's replacement, Maloney then saw a marvellous chance wasted as both Ferdinand & Vidic made a error of judgement from a long high ball, The former Celtic man raced yards clear of United's defenders only to miss by inches giving United a slice of luck.

With goals hard to come by for Rooney, Ronaldo who seemed in this game to touch anything & it turn into magic unbelievably assisted Rooney with a backheel flick like something out of Roy of the Rovers comic book as Rooney dummied Carson & rounded the exposed Aston Villa keeper for 3-0.

Villa ruing the earlier Maloney miss then crept back into the game very briefly as Kuszczak saved Maloney's curler.

SAF then flexed his mighty bench power as Owen Hargreaves, Anderson and John O'Shea came on for Evra, Carrick and Ferdinand.

With immediate impact, Owen Hargreaves at right full back saw action down the flank as he crossed with Beckham like precision only for Tevez to somehow miss the header which must have been easier the score than miss.

Already three up, United were relentless in their pursuit and on other day could certainly have had 8 goals or more as more chances were created with Rooney striking a post.

Rooney then scored to make it 4-0 with 20 mins to go thanks once again to Ronaldo who turned in the box feeding Rooney's run, before his finish passed Carson.

Wayne Rooney scored again soon after only to have his goal disallowed & hat trick cancelled for offside & then for the final five minutes of the match United were forced to play with ten men as United lost Ryan Giggs to injury.
