 MUFC's MAN OF THE MATCH
In a game void of finishing, Ronaldo & Rooney created many chances & look dangerous, but failed to find the net on most occasions, so MUFCINFO.COM's Man of the Match goes to Ben Foster for a magnificent debut  with top quality saves & if you get the chance to see it again, check out his throwing ability.

 MUFC.COM's REACTION

With toes curling & most watching the game slagging of Giggs for continuous squandering if possession, your reporter would have taken almost anything to win this game.

The method I will continue to use in times of trouble has worked on four different occasions now.

If I'm watching the game with the Wife present, We arrange that she visits the Ladies Room & United always score!!!

Works every time!!!!

Derby County 0 v 1 Manchester United,
Pride Park, Derby, 15.00pm, Saturday 15th March 2008.
Goals: Derby County - n/a.  Manchester United: Ronaldo 76.
Attendance: 33,072

It took, as he so rightly pointed out in his goal celebrations, 5 chances before Manchester United & especially Cristiano Ronaldo found the back of the net at Pride Park.  A slaughter of the home team was predicted by all after being battered by every team in the top flight, but not this day, Derby had a different feel & zest to them that had eluded them for all of the season so far.

SAF had many selection problems giving a debut to Ben Foster who would later be a hero & JOS who was selected to fill the right back slot for Wes Brown, who in turn was in for Rio Ferdinand who had a back injury.

The order of the day was frustration as United, possession in plenty created chances but end product was in shortage, after one minute a Ryan Giggs header from a cross from Ji Sung Park went wide as the Reds stamped their authority from the get go.

Ronaldo struck a grass cutter of a shot which had Ex United keeper Roy Carroll beat, the Portuguese star could only look on in frustration as the woodwork took the full brunt of the ball & not the net.

Soon after another effort from Ronaldo this time with the outside of the foot gave Carroll more work to do with a decent save as Ronaldo looked to the sky for Divine intervention.

After an half hour at least where it seemed Derby didn't even kick a ball Ben Foster made two saves EVDS or even Peter Schmeichel would have been proud of.

Eddie Lewis showed so control skills on the left before crossing in to United's penalty box after a long run, Miller met the cross steering the ball goal bound only for Foster to react & save well.

Miller shortly after, skipped over a Vidic challenge after Robert Earnshaw had nutmegged Wes Brown with an excellent through ball, Miller position himself to increase the angle however Foster got his angle 100% correct & blocked the shot with his hand.

That Boy Ronaldo tried everything in his Arsenal (Editor: no pun intended) with two 35+ yard free kicks which gave Roy Carroll only the minimal of trouble and judging from the reaction of Ronaldo the growing levels of dissatisfaction & no goals was starting to show.

Wayne Rooney who had provided Ronaldo with ammunition all day finally came to light after fighting his way down the left hand side, as all great players do, Rooney whilst approaching the touch line looked to his right before his cross came in, spotting the excellent run of Ronaldo, the White Pele crossed & Ronaldo hanging in the air for ever like a Chuck Norris Karate movie guided the ball into the net.

Never under estimate the importance of this goal, playing poorly against a poor team & winning is all part & parcel of winning the Championship & with the Arse continually stumbling like the proverbial drunk at closing time, United have been gifted a chance to take a three point lead at the top.

But only if we beat Bolton...........Roll on Wednesday night.

Editor says: Giggs was poor, but O'Shea & Park did enough to warrant  their scores, Vidic handles each & everything put his way & even got a bust nose for his troubles, only 1 miss timed tackle.
Ben Foster was excellent & you must have watched the MOTD section about his kicking.

And as for the Where were you?, I'm not in the away click now am I.
