Match Review
Manchester United 4 v 1 Blackburn Rovers, Old Trafford, Manchester, 15.00pm, Saturday 31st March 2007.
Goals: Manchester United : Scholes (61), Carrick (73), Park (83), Solskjaer (90), Blackburn Rovers:
Derbyshire (29).
Attendance: 76,098

After a lifeless below par 1st half performance whatever SAF said to the troops at half time gave UNited the rocket they so sorely needed & the Reds rewarded all with a devastating second half display.  Goals from the Ginger Ninja, Carrick, Park & an Ole Solskjaer dispatched Blackburn who had one solitary weak effort in the entire second half.

United who didn't really decide to play until the second phase of the match saw efforts from the visitors go wide as Dunn and eventual goals corer Derbyshire both had chances, United then replied with a Ronaldo shot which Wayne Rooney doing everything correct pounced on the rebound only for Brad Friedel to save again.

Rooney again went close as his strike partner Ryan Giggs crossed a ball finding Rooney in space, somehow trapping the ball under his feet while on goal the chance was wasted as Friedel gathered.

Then a quick one-two slap in the face as The Serbanator's injury & and a Blackburn goal in very quick succession rocked United, after a corner in usual fashion Vidic rose to meet a corner challenged by Blackburn defenders only to fall awkwardly on the unforgiving ground, the Serbian stopper then in pain lay on the floor as Old Trafford waited nervously & as from TV pictures confirmed from United's physio, Fergie held his head up to an unforgiving god as we all then knew we would be missing the defender for probably the rest of the year.

The second blow would come seconds later as Carrick as Morten Gamst Pedersen crossed and Carrick at full stretch almost scored an own goal EVDS saved low only for Derbyshire to hoist the ball into the roof of the net.

The second half was like a Harlem Globetrotters Charity Basket ball game, United were indeed the trotters & literally took the piss out of Blackburn in arguably one of the best performances from SAF's latest team.

However as United always seem to spark controversy after off side decision was given against United, Rio totally flipped his lid whilst on a rear attacking folly and after the whistle blasted the ball into the Stretford end, striking a fan reportedly in the face, as pictures showed the fan was hurt and was being consoled by friends or family.

A barrage of attacks from United then paid off as Paul Scholes gathered a loose ball outside the penalty box, the midfielder then dribbled through the box unleashing a shot which found the back of the net for the equalising goal.

Ryan Giggs then spurned a chance to take the lead with an open net in front of the Welsh forward, opting for power instead of patience he blasted his effort against the bar even though he was only 8 yards out.

A Michael Carrick side footed effort eventually gave United the lead as Blackburn simply could not live with the movement of United's forwards ,the midfielder hit a low shot in a congested penalty box before Ji-Sung Park made it three with a Denis Law type training ground tactic of charging at the keeper in case of any spillages, Ronaldo's free-kick was too much for Friedel to handle and Park for the second match running at OT tapped in from close range.

After the third goal SAF removed Giggs & Ronaldo with Wednesday in mind & replaced the attackers with Smith & OGS.

Solskjaer then added another goal in the 90 minute after work from Ronaldo saw Ji-Sung Park gather the ball, the South Korean crossed to Solskjaer who netted his 11th of the season & United's 99th goal of this current campaign.

The Reds need a goal in there next match which will be no 100, an your reporter will be reporting Live from AS Roma Stadium, so if you spot me come and say hello if you see our West Cumbria Reds branch flag.
