Manchester United have made an audacious swoop obtaining
the services of Ex Liverpool, Real Madrid & Newcastle
United forward Michael Owen on a two year deal.
After Owen had checks on a previous knee injury in
London on Thursday & was scrutinised under a stringent
medical at Bridgewater Hospital in Manchester on Friday,
SAF made his second summer signing, and one that could
easily prove to be a masterstroke.
From the most passionate Liverpool fan to the most
hardened Manchester United supporter, the Reds latest
summer transfer is one none would have guessed would
happen after the recent names that United were linked
with, but it has & as SAF explains "Michael is a world
class forward with a proven goalscoring record at the
highest level and that has never been in question.
Coming to Manchester United with the expectations that
we have is something that Michael will relish.
This coupled with Owen
accepting a large wage cut & a free transfer due to the
Striker being out of contract, SAF is indeed in a win
win situation, as not one soul can deny that if he does
gain match fitness, he will score goals,
no questions asked & if he failed to gain fitness or
form, the Striker cost little in the way of money.

Michael Owen said: "I had
just begun to talk to other clubs when out of the blue
Sir Alex phoned me on Wednesday afternoon, invited me to
have breakfast with him the next morning during which he
told me that he wanted to sign me. I agreed without a
moment's thought.
"This is a fantastic opportunity for me and I intend to
seize it with both hands. I am now looking forward to
being a Manchester United player and I am fortunate that
I already know so many of the players here. I missed
pre-season last year and am pleased that I will be
starting at Carrington from day one.
"I want to thank Sir Alex for the faith he has shown in
me and I give him my assurance that I will repay him
with my goals and performances.”
United's newest signing has so
far in his career played 413 games, scored 201 times at
club level & also pitched in with 40 goals at
International level for England.
Owen also has been sent of once in his career.
There
is also no news yet of which number the England Striker
will wear this coming season.
