Edwin Van Der Sar will miss a large chunk of the start of the season after he underwent surgery to fix a finger & bone in his left hand.

The Big Dutch Stickman injured himself during the 7-6 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Audi Cup last week when he saved Danijel Pranjic's spot-kick.

He is expected to miss 8 weeks of the season, thus leaving the door open for back up keepers Ben Foster & Tomasz Kuszczak to stake a claim for the no1 jersey & be given a rare opportunity to impress.

With SAF singing the praises of Foster and the English keeper signing a new contract recently, this could be an opportunity to see what the fuss is about.

8 weeks out

Especially after the poor distribution display from our Polish stopper in Munich.
