If like your Editor & you have stood behind Darren Fletcher from day one, and not severely barracked the Scottish International because SAF decided to play the lad wide right of a four man midfield, especially in the early days of his career, then fair play to you, requested by the manager to use his defensive skills rather than whip in a David Beckham like cross & try to shut down tactically an opponent instead of using the attacking pace of a Giggs or Andrei Kanchelskis, Darren Barr Fletcher when ever the boss has stuck him in the middle of the park, has NEVER ever let anyone down.

Remember Saturday 3rd April 2004 at Villa Park, Arsenal do as Fletcher unloaded, Remember his performance in the Chelsea game at Old Trafford which smacked the face of the Chelsea bandwagon jumpers.

Moaners who claimed he had no pace, couldn't cross the ball, wont score, too skinny etc have been proven highly incorrect as a regular 1st team starter in a position he prefers to play, has brought the very best out of the midfielder.

Graft, unselfishness & plain and simple disruption of opponents, this coupled with 16 goals so far in his career, all are uncanny gifts which Robson, Keane & possessed.  All ready the Captain of his national country, Fletcher has almost a half century of European Football under his belt since his debut at Old Trafford against FC Basel in a 1-1 draw.
