On Thursday 8th April 2010 Manchester United announced
the pre-contract agreement of Mexican born Striker
Javier Hernández Balcázar or "Chicharito" for short.
Currently applying his trade
in the Mexican 1st division with "the scared flock" or
Club Deportivo Guadalajara as they are better know, the
21 year old subject to a work permit will sign for the
Reds officially July 2010.
With his rise in the Mexican
national team under current manager Javier Aguirre
Onaindía, Hernandez's stock has risen after scoring 4
goals in 4 games for the National team in recent
friendly's also providing a number of assists, this
coupled with the ever approaching world Cup, SAF has
moved quick to ward of potential chasers of the forwards
services.
SAF said "We first received
some background knowledge of the boy last October,"
"One of our scouts went to Mexico in December and
watched a few games – the reports that came back were
very good. At that time we thought we'd just wait
because he was only young.
 "But
then he came into the national team and that created a
potential problem: if he went to the World Cup and did
well at the tournament then we could be in danger of
losing him.
"So I sent our chief scout, Jim Lawlor, over to Mexico
for three weeks to watch him and get some more
background on the boy. While Jim was there, Chicharito
played twice for the national team and also for Chivas:
he scored in every game.
"Jim filed a fantastic report on the boy, so last week
we sent our club solicitor over there with Jim to do the
deal. We're delighted to sign him."
"We like doing these kind of
deals," the boss said. "We identify young talent and
we’ve been good at that over the years. These are the
kind of signings we prefer to make."
Along with Chris Smalling,
Javier Hernandez looks set to join the Reds as SAF gears
up for what could be a busy summer after Chief Executive
David Gills comments last week.
Gill said ""We are planning
for next season," he said. "We have already bought Chris
Smalling from Fulham and we are very excited about him
joining us in July.
"Let's see what happens. Watch this space."
