IT'S 1,032 minutes
(SO fAR) FOR MANCHESTER U-TIGHTED.
Article by Mark Graham, Editor, Record Keeper & Official
Reporter @ MUFCINFO.COM.
As
has been heavily publicized recently, Manchester United's
Veteran Dutch Goalkeeper Edwin Van Der Sar has not had to
pick the ball out of the back his own net for an amazing
(so far) 1,032 minutes. United's keeper broke the previous
record held by Chelsea's Petr Cech of 1,025 minutes at the
death of the West Bromwich Albion victory on Tuesday night
at the Hawthorns
(Match Report).
Not since United were beaten 2-1 by Arsenal in a rather
entertaining game back in November, has the defence of the
Champions of England, Europe & the World been breached in
favour of their opponents.
Sir Alex said "I am proud
of them. They have been fantastic in this run. "Edwin van
der Sar has had a fantastic career but he was really
pleased to get this record. You look at him and what
happened has really thrilled him."
The last player to breach the United rearguard was indeed
Sami Nasri, who on the day claimed a extremely rare brace
as the Gunners went on to defeat the Reds at the Emirates
Stadium.
EVDS went on to say "The
most important thing is the win, but of course it is great
for the team to get the record. I just needed to keep the
concentration levels high and fire up the defenders and
midfielders.
"We are delighted with the record because we haven't even
had a settled defence, with players injured and others
coming in and out."
MUFCINFO.COM decided to take a look at the record in depth
& the players who were/are involved.
Congratulations & our
sincere thanks to all 10 players involved & long may the
run continue.

"I decided to keep the match
ball. A lot of players do it when they get a hat-trick, so
I thought I should take it home" Edwin Van Der Sar
